I enjoy painting all kinds of subjects from still life's and landscapes to animals, large and small. When beginning my paintings I have an idea of what the work will look like but during the painting process what was first in my mind's eye most always changes. This is the fun part of painting because it is unpredictable. Inspiration for my paintings can come from anywhere; sometimes it's the way the light plays on a subject or an interesting juxtaposition of shapes and colors. But much of my work is about color. I like to exaggerate the local color. To me color is always a two-edged sword, it is at times a struggle but when it does all come together and I think I have hit the right color notes and a painting emerges I am filled with a sense of wonderment and delight. |
